Score 91/100 · Drink 2018-2028, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2018
While the Shiraz is reserved and backward, the same can’t be said for the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Aphrodite as it’s upfront and ready to go, with soaring aromatics of tobacco leaf, eucalyptus, exotic spice, lead pencil shavings, and green herbs. This flows to a medium to full-bodied, elegant, sweetly fruited, slightly herbal Cabernet that has moderate mid-palate dept, sweet tannin, and solid overall freshness and purity. It’s outstanding, but certainly not anywhere close what Michael Twelftree has been able to accomplish in the past.
