The 2017 Aerope Grenache is the best Barossa Valley Grenache Two Hands could—excuse me—lay their hands on. Fermented in concrete and then aged in large-format oak and stainless steel, it's not woody at all, instead focusing on notes of garrigue and cherries. It's medium to full-bodied, with less alcohol than pretty much any modern-day Châteauneuf-du-Pape (14.1% alcohol on the label) and a lattice-like tannic structure that allows the fruit to show through while providing a structure sturdy enough to age for a decade or more.
