Score 89-91/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2015

The 2014 Chevalier de Lascombes is dark, powerful and inviting. Black cherries, plums, smoke, menthol and cloves flesh out in a powerful, supple wine built on texture. The significant presence of Merlot contributes richness and pliancy to match the wine's notable power.

The Chevalier de Lascombes 2014 has a plush, easygoing, quite opulent nose that is clearly designed to be punter friendly. The palate is rounded with gritty tannin, tarry black fruit with a slightly short finish. It does not flow as a second wine ought to.
