AP number 02 13. An enticing combination of stony/mineral and honeyed, with a darker spicy note. Honey and lemon on the palate. Relatively simply now but with the harmony for age and complexity. (JH)

The 2012 Riesling Wolfer Goldgrube Spätlese has a bright color and opens with a beautifully matured bouquet of bright, ripe fruits, a touch of caramel and notes of overripe golden delicious, with nice slate aromas in the background. Lush, round and piquant on the palate, this is a pure, salty-piquant and stimulating Riesling with grip and tension. The acidity here is terrific (8 grams per liter) and balances the 42 grams of unfermented sugar perfectly. This is a highly stimulating Spätlese that is still on its way; it has very fine tannins and is still very young. Daniel still has 200 bottles left, but he considers the wine too young for a re-release. Tasted February 2018.
Wonderfully pure range of citrus aromas, reflected on the palate: lemon, orange and grapefruit. So zesty and has the lightness of touch of a Kabinett, with a honeyed lemon aftertaste. GV (JH)
Slightly stinky. But great honesty on the palate. Fresh, if a little simple. Sinewy. Should get there in the end. A bit austere at the moment. (JR)
