The first ever vintage of Fonte Canale, it was a real treat to try this special wine. The nose combines rosemary and thyme with candied lemon peel, as well as more honeyed notes. The palate is lithe and vibrant still, with a stony purity and saline finish.

The 2012 Trebbiana d'Abruzzo Fonte Canale opens with a dusty floral bouquet. It's sublet yet refined with smoky hints of lemon custard, petrol, mint leaves and sweet smoke wafting up from the glass. The 2012 is opulent and round in feel, with ripe peach and sweet spice that swirl across its silken textures. Its minerality comes through on the finish, long and staining with raw almond, honeyed inner florals and a gentle spiciness. The 2012 is in fine form and continues to age well. This bottle was tasted both upon opening and then nearly a day later without losing any of its captivating characteristics.

Tiberio is one of Italy’s most exciting names. Cristiana Tiberio is at the helm of this Abruzzo estate today, which was founded by her father Riccardo. Known in particular for its old-vine Trebbiano Abruzzese, Tiberio now sits alongside Valentini and Emidio Pepe as a leading light of the region.
