Tasting notes
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru has a very incense-driven nose with hints of lavender slightly impeding across the dark cherry fruit profile. I feel there is some underripeness here. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid red berry fruit. A little angular and lacking a bit of cohesion with quite sharp acidity towards the finish. I wonder if this will gel together. This comes across a bit raw and undernourished at present, certainly not near to its showing from barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Richer and broader than Les Veroilles, the 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras mingles notes of cherries, plums and red berries with hints of exotic spices and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, it's layered and textural, concluding with a long, discreetly carnal finish.
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru has quite a stern nose, plenty of mineralité and terroir expression here, a mixture of red and black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly candied red fruit on the entry, brown spices, hints of liquorice towards the finish with fine persistence. Promising, though it needs to gain a little more weight.
