Voge is now making two cuvees of Cornas - his Cuvee Barriques, which is aged in small new oak casks, and his Cuvee Vieilles Vignes, made from 75-80 year old vines. The superb 1989 Cornas-Vieilles Vignes exhibits an opaque dark ruby/garnet color, and a rich, sweet nose of roasted nuts, herbs, and black fruits. In the mouth, it possesses the expansive, full-bodied, chewy richness that comes from old vine Syrah, plenty of soft tannins, low acidity, and a fat, heady, spicy, super-concentrated finish. Approachable now, this wine should age effortlessly for another 10-15 years. Importer: World Shippers and Importers, Philadelphia, PA.
