The 2021 Chianti Classico bursts from the glass with a rush of super-ripe red cherry, pomegranate, rose petal and spice. It offers plenty of boisterous energy, but there is also an element of angularity that needs to soften. A light metallic undertone is distracting.

Greve. 100% Sangiovese. Deep ruby. Earthy, spicy notes hovering over deep, concentrated cherry fruit. Bags of sour-cherry fruit. There is plenty of acidity but, equally, plenty of fruit and gripping but not rough tannins. Truly animating and vibrant. (WS)
