Tasting notes
Now moving under the Realm umbrella, the 2017 Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard from Kata offers up a massive blast of blue fruit, plums, orange blossom, and tobacco, with more spice and an almost herbes de Provence-like character developing with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, silky and seamless, it has good acidity, plenty of fine, polished tannins, and straight-up outstanding balance. It’s a beautiful wine and a great success in the vintage.

Kata has been one of the most singular wines in Napa Valley since I first tasted it, which was before it even had a name. The 2017 is no exception. Fleshy and sumptuous in the glass, with terrific resonance, the 2017 is so expressive and so inviting. Black cherry, grilled herbs, menthol, licorice, spice and new leather all build in a sumptuous, racy wine that has so much to offer. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah works so well here.
