Score 92/100 · Drink 2023-2032, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2023

The 2020 La Chapelle de Haut-Bages Libéral is a gorgeous second wine. Racy and supple, with no hard edges, the 2020 offers up copious dark red cherry/plum fruit intermingled with sweet floral notes. The 2020 was aged 60% in French oak and 40% in concrete, which adds notable purity and freshness. This is beautifully done.

The 2020 La Chapelle de Haut-Bages Libéral has a lively bouquet with dark cherries, blueberry and violent aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a graphite-tinged opening, fleshy and harmonious with a black pepper and bay leaf tinged finish. Fine.
