Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Cuvee la Gargone is scented of crushed blackberries, black cherries preserves and baking spices with wafts of potpourri and dusty soil. The medium-bodied palate is velvety with a good core of ripe, spicy fruit and a lively finish.

The 2015 La Gargone is a total knockout, and also big step up from the Caduse. Unctuous and ripe in the glass, the 2015 possesses stunning richness and power in all of its dimensions. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and licorice build into the voluptuous finish. La Gargone is 60% Merlot, 20% Malbec, 18% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Best of all, this racy, flamboyant wine is a terrific value. Don't miss it.

I also loved the 2015 Domaine du Bouscat La Gargone and this little gem is mostly Merlot yet includes 20% Malbec and 18% Cabernet Franc, all from minuscule yields on the order of 20 hectoliters per hectare. Seeing malo in barrel and 20 months in new oak, its inky color is followed by an intense bouquet of blackberries, peppery spice, incense, and chocolate. It’s another ripe, sexy, gorgeously textured red from this estate that should keep for 10-15 years. There’s a little over 800 cases produced.

The 2015 La Gargone is a big step up from the Caduce. Ripe, flashy and powerful, the 2015 offers a gorgeous combination of freshness and ripeness. Leather, smoke, licorice, dark cherry and plum are fused together in a deep, unctuous wine that delivers the goods, and then some. La Gargone is 60% Merlot, 20% Malbec, 18% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. The varietal mix here is a big plus in 2015.
