Tasting notes
Dark and brooding, the 2021 Rosso di Montalcino slowly opens with a blend of crushed strawberries, sage and cedar shavings. It’s juicy and round with ripe wild berry fruits and a saline mineral tinge that forms toward the close. This tapers off with tension, leaving a pleasantly chewy sensation and traces of licorice to fade.

Juicy and expressive, the 2021 Rosso Di Montalcino shows ample floral red and blue fruit, with black raspberry, violet perfume, and licorice candy. On the primary side, it is medium to full-bodied, with plummy fruit, crunchy fresh acidity for lift, and ripe tannins. An approachable and easy style, it casts a large net for drinking over the next several years.
A blend of 85% Sangiovese and 15% Petit Verdot, the Talenti 2021 Rosso Talenti shows a medium dark color with easy blackberry fruit and plum. There is a distinctive mineral note with crushed stone and flint that frames that core of rich fruit. There is a subtle note of sweetness on the close, and the wine clocks in with an unfortunate 15% alcohol content that feels too high. The wine spends time in a combination of stainless steel, amphorae and oak. Production is 4,000 bottles.
