Tasting notes
The 2022 Chianti Classico Riserva Le Baroncole is packed with dark red cherry/plum fruit, new leather, cedar, blood orange and spice. Dense and layered, with superb depth, the 2022 is endowed with real structure. The oak, sometimes a touch intrusive in this battling, is especially well integrated, reflecting a gradual move towards larger-format wood and a lighter touch overall. Gorgeous.

Aromas of bright red cherries, chalky minerality and camphor. Medium-bodied with savory flavors, moderate refreshing acidity and firm, dusty tannins. Good length. From organically grown grapes. Try from 2026.
Deep ruby. Deep balsamic and brooding nose with mace and morocco-leather undertones. Lush cherry and raspberry fruit layered with bags of gravelly tannins. Fantastic balance and structure yet remains suave.
The 2022 Chianti Classico Riserva Le Baròncole is a promising, incredibly nuanced wine. Dark and layered, the 2022 shows off the darker, wilder side of Sangiovese to great effect. Black cherry, game, iron, licorice and lavender build over time. As with all the 2022s, conditions did not allow for total and perfect ripening. That is evident in the wine's flavor profile and overall feel. Even so, this is a fine effort for the vintage.
