Tasting notes
The organic San Giusto a Rentennano 2016 Vin San Giusto (in a 375-milliliter bottle) is a viscous and glycerin-rich dessert wine with dried fruit, chewy caramel, white raisin and a hint of chocolate or toasted coffee bean. The wine is very rich on the palate, sitting heavy on the senses to the end. I also get a curious mineral note that is almost metallic or tin can-like. The wine moves with slow, lazy swirls in the glass.

The 2016 Vin San Giusto is sublime. It offers a compelling mix of floral-infused brightness to play off its natural textural intensity. Brown sugar, dried flowers, toffee, mint, leather and spice are all beautifully delineated. The 2016 is one of the most finessed editions I can remember tasting. As always, this is 90% Malvasia and 10% Trebbiano that spent six years in wood.
About the producer

San Giusto a Rentennano is one of the leading producers in the Chianti Classico region. Its 100% Merlot Super Tuscan La Ricolma and 100% Sangiovese cuvée, Percarlo, are two of the most consistent and collected fine wines in Tuscany.
