Tasting notes
The 2020 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a quintessential bouquet for this climat, with tangible mineralité and stunning delineation. The oak is beautifully integrated. Returning after 15 minutes, there are touches of wild mint and rosemary. The palate is poised with a penetrating entry, the pH perhaps a little lower than its peers, saline and brisk towards the finish. This is an intriguing Les Perrières that I find mercurial in the glass, but the bottom line is that, like several other Meursault 2020s, it has gone up a gear since tasting from barrel. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru is more hesitant on the nose compared to the Meursault-Charmes, touches of wax resin and crushed stone, a little jasmine, quite tight on the finish. Like others I am just missing a sense of tension and mineralité here.
