Tasting notes
Darker fruits, spicy wood, and graphite define the 2023 Château Montviel, a terrific, concentrated, and textured Pomerol that brings a more modern style without losing its classic Pomerol character. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a pure, layered mouthfeel, ample mid-palate depth, and ripe tannins. Give it 3-4 years and drink over the following 15 or more. Drink 2029-2044.

The 2023 Montviel is laced with crushed flowers, ripe red cherry fruit, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and blood orange. This racy, mid-weight Pomerol is all charm. Its balance and sensuality are impeccable. Montviel is a blend of many parcels across the appellation, an approach that works quite well in challenging years.
The 2023 Montviel has a very fragrant bouquet with a mixture of red and black fruit, touches of truffle and undergrowth in the background, lending complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, just a patina of oak to be subsumed, nicely focused with a tender finish. Enjoy over the next 12 to 15 years.
