Score 91/100 · Drink 2026-2041, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2026

A terrific second wine from Château Le Gay, the 2023 Manoir De Gay offers up loads of ripe red and black fruits, leafy tobacco, and spice on the nose. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a round, supple mouthfeel, fine tannins, and is beautifully balanced. It's already drinking nicely and will unquestionably keep for 10-15 years. Drink this while you give the Grand Vin some bottle age. Drink 2026-2041.

The 2023 Manoir de Gay is packed with black cherry, chocolate, licorice, spice and new French oak. This is a racy style, with ripeness pushed forward and yet all the elements are nicely balanced. This racy Pomerol is a fine choice for drinking now and over the next few years.

Ch. le Gay
Chateau Le Gay

There’s been lots of change at Ch. le Gay since the Parent family arrived in 2002 – with vineyards replanted, the cellars renovated and the winemaking adjusted. No surprise, perhaps, that quality is now higher than ever.
