Score 93/100 · Drink 2005-2035, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2021
The 1980 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is showing very well, opening up to reveal inviting aromas of cherries, red berries and orange rind mingled with nuances of spices, musk and grilled meats. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with an elegantly rustic chassis of chalky tannin and tangy acids, it concludes with a long, penetrating finish. The last glass, as is so often the case, was the best. This was the third vintage of Ruchottes-Chambertin produced by Dr. Georges Mugneret, who acquired this holding from Thomas Bassot.
