Tasting notes
Coming from clay and limestone soils, the 2023 Château Destieux is based on 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 15 months in 70% new French oak. It has exotic aromatics of ripe red and black fruits, smoked ham, baking spices, and hints of chocolate on the nose. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has moderate acidity, a ripe, round, lush mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and a great finish. Count me in as a fan, and it should have two decades of overall longevity. Drink 2026-2045.

The 2023 Destieux is packed with inky dark fruit, leather, tobacco and copious new oak. Rich and explosive, the 2023 builds with time in the glass. Readers should expect a potent, opulent Saint-Émilion. Even with all of its intensity, the 2023 remains vibrant through to the finish.
The 2023 Destieux has a fresh and vibrant nose with blackcurrant, cassis and violet scents that are neatly integrated with the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, fresh and lively, with a cohesive and more-ish finish. One of the best Destieux vintages in recent years.
