Tasting notes
The single-vineyard red 2021 Valtuille La Vitoriana comes from some of the oldest vineyards in the village in a lieu-dit with that only five owners planted with a field blend of Mencía, Garnacha Tintorera, Trousseau and other white varieties. It fermented with 30% full clusters in an oak vat with indigenous yeasts and 60 days of maceration and matured in a 500-liter oak barrel for 12 months. It has 13.46% alcohol and is medium-bodied and fine-boned. This is very elegant, complete, harmonious and complex, with integrated oak and fine-grained tannins. Only 620 bottles were filled in March 2023.

The 2021 Valtuille Vitoriana is Mencía from La Vitoriana, Valtuille, Bierzo, a site shared by five owners, four of whom bottle wine. Aromatically restrained, it combines hints of blood, violet, rosehip and orange peel with light reduction. The 2021 is broad and silky, with delicate tannins and a compact structure, blending fruit and texture with muscle and elegance.
