Opening with a gourmand and inviting bouquet of dark berries, cassis, mulberries and spices, the 2023 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion offers a juicy, round and supple palate framed by velvety tannins and lively acidity. Approachable yet well structured, it concludes with a long, fresh finish. This is a convincing success in this vintage.

A Merlot-heavy second wine that spent 18 months in French oak, the 2023 La Chapelle De La Mission Haut-Brion sports a deep ruby/purple hue as well as rocking aromatics of ripe black cherries, smoked tobacco, baking spices, and graphite. It's rich, medium to full-bodied, with a layered, deep, seamless mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It's another one of those wines that's too good for a second wine and will keep for three decades. Drink 2028-2055.
Deep, layered and sumptuous in the glass, the 2023 La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion is terrific. Blackberry, gravel, incense, licorice, mocha and dried herbs are all dialed up to the maximum. A potent second wine, La Chapelle delivers the goods, big time. Give the tannins a bit of time to soften.
The 2023 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion has a well-defined bouquet, lighter than the previous vintage, touches of black olive that tincture the blackberry fruit with a subtle marine influence. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, very cohesive, with a touch of allspice. This is a very composed and classy La Chapelle.

Ch. la Mission Haut-Brion – sister estate of Ch. Haut-Brion and part of the Clarence Dillon stable – is one of the greatest estates in all of Bordeaux. Based in Pessac-Léognan but not officially classified, it produces outstanding red and white wines.
