Tasting notes
A deep ruby/magenta color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva is ripe and saturating on the nose, with blackberries, dark purple flowers, and mossy earth. Full, refined, and well-detailed, it retains good freshness and a polished feel, with refined, ripe tannins and a seamless texture. Very well done, it has a good deal of life ahead of it. Drink 2026-2040.

Lustrous mid ruby. A perfumed red-fruit nose with minerally, earthy hints and notes of what looks like oak. Huge concentration of embryonic, brooding fruit on the palate and with sandpapery tannins sticking to the fruit. Quite a hefty wine and in need of further ageing. (WS)
The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Ferrovia is dark and rich with a bouquet of crushed plums, cherry sauce, dark chocolate and coffee grinds. This is weighty, nearly velvety in feel, with masses of ripe red and black fruits offset by hints of sour citrus and brisk acidity as a bitter cocoa tinge saturates toward the close. It finishes gripping and long, with dramatic length and potency as a minty herbal freshness provides a welcome lift.
