Don't miss! Here too there is a subtle though perceptible dollop of wood surrounding the cool and airy aromas that make it immediately clear that this could be from nowhere else than Chablis with its notes of iodine, oyster shell, quinine and the sea breeze character that is so appealing. The sleek and almost painfully intense broad-shouldered flavors exude evident minerality on the superbly long and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is, simply put, gorgeous, and a wine that should age and improve effortlessly over the next 15 or so years.

Cask sample. Pale-mid lemon. Fragrance and perfume! Chalk and white flowers and a most understated undertow of minerality and concentration. Understated, but undeniable. Balance, length, concentration and complexity. Grand vin! As Mr Clive Coates would say. (MH)

The 2021 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a powerful, almost dramatic bouquet with hints of peppermint and liquorice complementing the citrus fruit. Layers of Japanese yuzu and blood orange burst from the glass. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, very saline, quite intense with blood orange, apricot, hints of grilled hazelnut and flint. Very complex and involving - I find my sample difficult to spit out (so I don't).
