Score 87/100 · Drink 2003-2016, Robert Parker, Jan 2003
A very perplexing wine, the 1995 has a dark ruby color and rather closed, muted aromatics consisting of earth, wood, mushroom, and some vaguely sweet red currant and plum-like fruit. In the mouth it is tannic and hard, with pronounced minerality and an austere, very astringent finish. Perhaps I am giving the wine the benefit of the doubt, but this looks to be a wine that needs considerable bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016. Last tasted, 3/01.
