A brick red color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino is spicy and forward on opening, with notes of toasted cedar, peppercorn, orange peel, and dried red cherries. Medium-bodied, it’s zesty and snappy on the back palate, with fine tannins, a more savory slanting profile, and notes of dusty earth on the finish. It’s a solid wine to enjoy over the next 5-6 years.

Mid ruby with orange tinges. Spicy notes over brooding fruit. Sweetly concentrated cherry and strawberry palate with grainy tannins on the finish. Pleasant and ready now. (WS)
