Tasting notes
Lots of ripe darker fruits, spicy oak, chocolate, and some floral notes all emerge from the 2023 Château Tour Maillet (Lagardère), a richly textured, medium to full-bodied Pomerol that shines for its purity of fruit as well as overall balance. A bigger, richer wine in the vintage and beautifully balanced, it's impressive.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Tour Maillet rolls out with expressive notes of fresh blackberries and plums followed by hints of garrigue, fertile loam, and crushed rocks. The medium-bodied palate is just a touch thin and chewy with a grippy finish.
Very fine and polished with a seamless tannin structure. Medium-bodied with an impressive concentration of fruit. Long and balanced.
The 2023 Tour Maillet has a simple and rather muddled bouquet at the moment, with a very slight metallic tincture. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, saturated tannins, well-judged acidity and a harmonious finish. Take the aromatics out and this is actually a decent Pomerol. Maybe it will pull it together by the time of bottling?
