Tasting notes
After the Domaine des Cambes, this is a real contrast, with a much darker profile. It’s full of plummy fruit with a spicy star anise and savoury, almost miso edge. There’s real finesse to the palate and tannins, backed up by rich, concentrated fruit. A significant step up in power, this is impressive and well balanced.

The 2023 Roc de Cambes is packed with dark-toned fruit, gravel, incense, scorched earth, tobacco, licorice and chocolate. This heady Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend is quite the powerhouse. Swaths of tannin give this broad, incisive wine tons of character. The long, sustained finish is quite attractive.
More serious and structured than the domaine bottling, the 2023 Roc De Cambes offers up brilliant aromatics of cassis, black raspberries, scorched earth, graphite, and violets on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, beautiful overall balance, and a great finish. It's going to shine for 15-20 years. Drink 2026-2043.
The 2023 Roc de Cambes offers attractive raspberry and wild strawberry fruit on the nose, not quite as complex as the best vintages encountered over the years, but there is plenty of vigor. The palate is medium-bodied, with pliant tannins, lightly spiced with sage and thyme, a healthy pinch of black pepper, and decent structure and freshness on the finish. This is promising, and it should evolve into a fine Roc de Cambes.
