Deep purple-hued, the 2023 Château Marquis D'Alesme is based on 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 5% Cabernet Franc and aged in 45% new French oak. It has beautiful aromatics of blue fruits, subtle cassis, spicy wood, chocolate, and graphite, and on the palate it's medium-bodied, with a supple, layered mouthfeel, ripe and polished tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and outstanding length. This floral, pretty, classy, and graceful Margaux will shine for two decades. Drink 2026-2046.
The 2023 Marquis d'Alesme is sleek and silky right out of the gate. Dark blue-toned fruit, lavender, mocha, licorice and crushed flowers all grace the palate. Margaux at its most delicate.
The 2023 Marquis d'Alesme Becker has a well-defined bouquet that blossoms in the glass, beautiful black cherries and blueberry fruit, very floral and perhaps more expressive than the Labégorce. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannins, quite lush and yet there is superb tension with a caressing, intense finish. Outstanding.
About the producer
The estate dates back to 1585 and has been producing wine on the property since the early 17th century. In the 1855 classification the Chateau was awarded Third Growth status.
