Tasting notes
There is a lovely lifted quality to the 2023 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc. The nose opens up immediately in the glass to reveal stone-fruit and floral, scented aromatics. Medium- to full-bodied, notes of citrus peel dominate on the palate; the precision and clarity of fruit is fantastic There’s a backbone of acidity with impeccable freshness and tension through to the long finish. 13.6% alcohol. Blend: 95% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Semillon

Exotic melon, honeyed orange, minty flowers, and spice all define the 2023 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc, a beautifully textured, layered, elegant white from this team. Based on 95% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Sémillon and aged eight months in 70% new French oak, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with integrated acidity and a great finish. This is a seriously impressive white that can be enjoyed any time over the coming 10-15 years. Drink 2026-2040.
The 2023 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc is one of the most refined dry whites of the year. Soft, silky and nuanced, the Blanc has so much to offer. There's a touch of reduction, but it works well here. Passion fruit, apricot, tangerine oil and a kiss of French oak lend an exotic flair. This is so distinctive.
The 2023 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc is lacklustre on the nose, leaning more towards yellow fruit, as if this already had several miles on the clock. The palate is simple with light orchard fruit, but it lacks a bit of acidity, feels disjointed and lacks vigour on the finish. Disappointing.
