Tasting notes
All Merlot, the 2023 Château La Cabanne is rock-solid, with a beautiful red, blue, and black-fruited profile that carries classic lots of floral, menthol, and spicy nuances. It's medium-bodied, has a supple, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. I love its overall purity, complexity, and freshness, and it's going to shine with just a few years of bottle age.

Flowers, plums, and cocoa open the nose. On the palate, the wine is vibrant, fresh, crisp, and elegant, finishing with sweet, black raspberries, chocolate, and espresso with a lifted, finish. The wine is produced from 100% Merlot. 14.1% ABV.
La Cabanne 2023 is 100% Merlot and has a deep garnet-purple color. It opens with a core of raisin cake and prunes, with wafts of earth, cedar, tar, and wet slate. Medium-bodied, it's a little lean and tart, with lightly chewy tannins and an abrupt finish.
There’s elegance and tension to this, which adds nice focus and finesse. Medium body, fine tannins and a cedar and berry aftertaste.
About the producer

Owned by the Estager family, this property sits between Trotanoy and Clinet on the Pomerol plateau. The heavy clay subsoils produce powerful wines that can need time to open up.
