Tasting notes
This took a while to open up in the glass but gradually reveals aromas of black cherry and violets. The palate is tightly packed with blackcurrant and layers of peppery spice. With 40h/ha produced, yields are back in line with the average following two difficult vintages (2021 and 2022), and 13.9% alcohol. The 2023 has a good core of fruit and a particularly long finish. Blend: 89% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc

Red, blue, and black fruits, sappy green herbs, and some floral notes all emerge from the 2023 Château Gazin, a more medium-bodied Pomerol with an upfront, complex, lively profile. It's solid in the vintage, has ripe tannins, and bright yet integrated acidity. The blend is 89% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.
There is richness, energy, layers of fruit, and finesse here. The fruits are ripe, silky, vibrant, and fresh. The truffle, flower, and chocolate accents add to the experience. Give the wine just a few years to age, and this will be a strong Pomerol wine. The wine blends 89% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.
A blend of 89% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2023 Gazin has a deep garnet-purple color. It is a touch subdued to begin, needing a little patience to discover subtle notes of redcurrant jelly, fresh plums, and cedar, leading to hints of pencil lead and bay leaves. The medium-bodied palate has fine-grained tannins and bright acidity supporting the delicate red and black fruit flavors, finishing with a savory lift. I like this quiet intensity!
