Tasting notes
The second wine from this estate, the 2023 Fugue De Nénin is based on 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc that spent 10 months in 10% new French oak. Juicy black cherries, leafy herbs, crunchy red fruits, and chocolaty hints all emerge from this medium-bodied, fresh, focused, elegant effort. It has nicely integrated acidity and outstanding length. Drink this charming Pomerol over the coming 10-15 years. Drink 2026-2041.

The 2023 Fugue de Nénin is a lovely second wine. Bright red-toned fruit, crushed flowers, mint, blood orange and cinnamon all grace this soft, open-knit Pomerol from Nénin. This is everything a second wine should be. Delicious.
The 2023 Fugue de Nénin never quite clicked into gear from barrel. Now in bottle, it has a light and agreeable bouquet with a subtle herbaceous edge that I can countenance here. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly raw tannins, moderate weight, but it still tapers toward the finish and leaves me wanting more. Early drinking.
Mostly Merlot and the second wine from Château Nenin, the 2023 Fugue De Nenin is a deep purple-hued effort offering a juicy, forward, delicious style in its red and blue fruits as well as subtle tobacco, leafy herbs, and chalky earth-like nuances. It's medium-bodied, supple, and elegant.
