Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 de la Huste offers up notes of plum pudding and dried cherries with hints of tobacco, balsamic, and wild fungi. The medium-bodied palate reveals dried berry flavors and a rugged, chewy texture, finishing rustic.
This is medium-bodied with a fresh and juicy nature, offering blue fruit and a hint of orange peel. Fine and transparent with smooth tannins.
The 2023 Château de la Huste has a more low-key bouquet with tightly wound blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, just a hint of licorice coming through with aeration. The palate is full-bodied with ripe black plum and white pepper notes, cohesive with firm and insistent grip. Not quite as persistent as its peers, this remains a fine Fronsac that will require three or four years in bottle.
