80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Sémillon. Aged for 8 months in barrel, 30% new. Green, grassy fruit embellished by mealy oak notes. The combination on the palate is both refreshing and creamy. Not complex but harmonious. (JH)
Lots of ripe plums, violets, and candied spice notes emerge from the 2023 Château De France, a medium-bodied effort that has lots of upfront fruit and texture, good overall balance, and ripe tannins that frame the finish nicely. It's a solid effort in the vintage and has outstanding potential.
Flowers, cherries, currants, tobacco, and thyme are elegantly presented in this medium-bodied, vibrant, forward, soft-textured, early-drinking, energetic wine.
About the producer
Neighbouring Ch. de Fieuzal, Ch. de France has been making wine since the 17th century. Purchased by the Thomassin family in 1971, investment has been significant – as has the associated rise in quality.
