Tasting notes
Sappy herbs, flowers, and subtle cedar notes all emerge from the 2023 Château de Camensac, a more red-fruited, pretty, medium-bodied, elegant 2023. It shows the fresher, mid-weight style of the vintage, yet I love its balance and complexity.

Savory herbs with black currants, cedar, flowers, and tobacco blend perfectly in this chewy, fruity wine that will offer easy-pleasure in its youth. A year or two in the cellar will add even more to the wine.
This offers fresh and vibrant fruit with hints of crushed stones and flowers. It’s medium-bodied with velvety tannins and a firm, bright finish.
The 2023 Château de Camensac has an old-school Bordeaux nose, but in a good way: tobacco-tinged black fruit, a touch of blackcurrant and freshly-tilled earth. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. It’s notably solid, and there is a bit of rigidity toward the finish. Like some of its peers, it just cuts away too swiftly.
About the producer

A stone’s throw from Saint-Julien, Ch. de Camensac was long underperforming, but – under the ownership of the Merlaut-Villars family – was totally restructured, and quality transformed.
