Tasting notes
Good medium red. Musky, reduced nose offers black raspberry, leather, game and mineral aromas along with some oak-driven potpourri spices. Sweet but firm and young, with a youthfully reserved character to the flavors of raspberry, exotic spices and dried flowers. Some finishing oakiness still needs to be absorbed. I'd be in no hurry to uncork this.

The 2010 Clos de la Roche is a big, powerful wine built on structure and length. The Clos de la Roche has plenty of energy, but clearly needs time to fully come together. Red fruit, iron, minerals, saline notes and smoke power through to the intense, sinewy finish. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030. (Not yet released) Importer: North Berkeley Imports, Berkeley, CA; tel. Dark red. Musky, sweaty aromas of raspberry, pomegranate, pink peppercorn, cumin and dried rose. Suave on entry, then juicy and fine-grained but imploded in the middle, with an almost citrussy impression of acidity giving the wine sharp definition. Finishes with terrific verve and lift. If I were tasting this set of samples blind, I might have thought this was the Clos-Saint-Denis.
