Score 88-90/100 · Drink 2000-2005, Pierre Rovani, Aug 1998

Produced from vines planted in 1927 and 1933, this ruby-colored wine has profound aromas of black cherries imbued in violets. This thickly-textured, medium-to-full-bodied, expansive, and elegant wine is extremely well-crafted and offers intense flavors of cassis, blackberries, fresh herbs, and Asian spices. Drink it between 2000 and 2005. Jean-Yves Bizot is a rising star. A Patrick Lesec Selection (Paris Fax # 011-33-1-42-84-38-22), various American importers.
