Tasting notes
The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Caillerets 1er Cru sports a more conspicuous reduction on the nose compared to others, though it seems simpatico with the fruit, building in intensity with aeration whilst retaining delineation. The palate is well defined with a razor-sharp thread of acidity that makes it feel quite malic and Puligny-like. Racy, almost steely in style, this is a limestone-driven Chassagne that deserves long-term consideration. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Caillerets 1er Cru was impacted by the snow and frost, up to 80% lost. It has a superb bouquet with wonderful mineralité and definition. The palate has beguiling symmetry, poised and full of energy, with a lovely sour lemon note that lingers on the aftertaste. Just 9 hectoliters were produced.
The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets wafts from the glass with aromas of peach, tangerine, white flowers, nutmeg and wet stones. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, it's seamless and complete, with a racy spine, a taut mid-palate and a long, penetrating finish.
