Tasting notes
The 2017 Pinot Noir Thieriot Vineyard Estate is the most reticent and tightly wound of the 2017 Littorai Pinots. That should serve it well over the next decade. Today, it is decidedly austere. All of the natural energy and tension of this site is pushed forward, while the aromatics and fruit are very much in the background. Readers should expect an especially taut, savory style, even thought the Thieriot only saw a touch (6%) of stems.

Impressively fresh and attractively fragrant aromas of fine-ground spice with bright, light red cherries and blueberries. Hints of charcuterie, earth and dried brown mushroom here, too. The palate is smoothly resolved and has a super fresh, succulent and lively feel with a very vibrant core of rich, red and dark cherries. Great volume and depth, really filling the finish. Try from 2024.
One of the most impressive of these 2017 Pinots, the 2017 Pinot Noir Thieriot Vineyard Estate is a wine of extraordinary finesse and pure pedigree. A whole range of savory and earthy notes add nuance to the dark red/purplish berry fruit. Finely sculpted in the glass, with tremendous energy, the 2017 has so much to offer. I especially admire the wine's persistence and focus.
About the producer

Littorai stands as one of California’s most quietly influential estates, defined by organic and biodynamic farming, site transparency, and a restrained, Burgundian sensibility.
