From a vineyard far out on the Sonoma Coast, west of Occidental, the 2015 Pinot Noir B.A. Thieriot Vineyard reveals a medium ruby color as well as complex notes of raspberry and cranberry fruits, bay leaf, and pinewood/forest floor. It’s medium-bodied, racy, and pure on the palate, with elevated yet integrated acidity that’s going to keep it aging gracefully for 10-15 years. This is another estate making a distinctly vibrant, fresh style of wine that’s going to appeal to the Burgundy lovers out there. It’s an incredibly educational tasting going through all these different single vineyards from Ted Lemon and these are interesting, singular wines. As a whole, the 2015s shows slightly more oomph compared to the 2016s, yet both vintages have vibrant acidity and balanced profiles. As expected, quantities are slightly up in 2016.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Thieriot Vineyard Estate is just as exotic from bottle as it was from barrel. A burst of blood orange, hard candy, cinnamon, succulent red berry and star anise makes a strong opening statement. Pliant and persistent on the palate, with exceptional finesse, the 2015 simply has it all. Unfortunately there is just one barrel of this magical Pinot to go around.

Littorai's 2015 Pinot Noir Thieriot Vineyard Estate opens with a blast of aromatic intensity. Sweet, exotic and beguiling on the palate the 2015 is showing beautifully today. There is plenty of tannic underpinning. At the same time, there is a flamboyance to the Thieriot that is impossible to miss. This is one of the most intriguing wines in the range. Sadly, production is Burgundy-like. There is just one barrel to go around.
