Score 95/100 · Drink 2015-2020, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2015

The 2005 Chardonnay Charles Heintz Vineyard is a little more exuberant than the 2005 Mays Canyon tasted alongside it, but that is usually the case, even when the wines are young. Honey, orange peel, burnt sugar, mint and hazelnuts all blossom in the glass. The substantial, opulent finish suggests a hint of botrytis, although there was none. What a gorgeous wine this is.

Pale yellow. Aromas of smoke, butterscotch and hay, with some earthy low tones Then subtle and peachy in the mouth, with juicy acidity giving good lift to this plump, supple, nicely concentrated wine. Complicating notes of truffle and spice.
