Score 92/100 · Drink 2010-2026, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

The 2006 Hermitage Marquise de la Tourette appears to have turned the corner and has shed its cloak of tannin and acidity. It's charming, medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and textured today, with classic olive, cured meats, black fruits and a hint of graphite. It has a classic, balanced, even elegant style and will continue drinking beautifully for at least another decade.

Glass-staining purple. Deeply concentrated dark fruit aromas are brightened by zesty minerals and complicated by smoky bacon and Indian spice qualities. Broad and fleshy, with dense cassis and blueberry flavors and a bitter note of cherry skin. Gains freshness with air, taking a turn to brighter red fruits on the finish. This rich, complex wine finishes with youthfully tight grip and lingering spiciness.

Inky purple. Strong floral and cherry scents are complicated by cured meat and smoky minerals. Tightly wound red fruit flavors show excellent depth and clarity, with slow-building sweetness. Very elegant if painfully young Hermitage, finishing with impressive cut and length.
