Tasting notes
Awesome aromatics of red and blue fruits, crushed stone, smoked meats, violets, and flowers all emerge from the 2022 Côte Rôtie Rose Pourpre. It's borderline full-bodied on the palate with gorgeous elegance, fine tannins, and a smoky, spicy, complex character. This flawlessly balanced effort will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and evolve gracefully for 15+ years. Drink 2027-2042.

Crafted entirely from Syrah planted on gneiss soils in the lieu-dit Cote Rozier, the 2022 Cote Rotie Rose Pourpre reveals aromas of spices, mulberries, black olives, dark berries and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, dense and deep, it has a gently assertive tannic frame, good depth at the core and a long, spicy, toasty finish. Matured for 18 months in barrels, this is a rather tense, firm wine that needs some time (4-8 years) in the cellar to chill out.
Ripe black cherry, black plum, cedar, bourbon vanilla and a touch of cedar present the 2022 Côte-Rôtie Rose Pourpre, a medium- to full-bodied red that’s sexy and refreshing. Showing more concentration and overall ambition when set against the traditional Côte-Rôtie from the same vintage, the 2022 Rose Pourpre shows remarkably well, closing with an elegant finale.
100% Syrah. 100% destemmed. Cold pre-fermentation maceration. Alcoholic fermentation at 35 °C. Post-fermentation maceration at 30 °C. Malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aged for 18 months in fine-grained oak barrels (Allier and Nevers), 100% new. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Packed full of meat and oaky spice on the nose. The palate shows real richness and supple fruit, the tannins are well managed and just support the ample fleshy core. Generous! (AC)
