Tasting notes
Deep ruby/plum-hued, with ripe red and black berries, toasted spice, savory flowers, and loamy earth, the 2022 Côte Rôtie Esprit De Blonde is medium to full-bodied and nicely textured on the palate, with velvety tannins and a ripe, supple, rounded style. It's a classic, impeccably made Côte Rôtie to drink over the coming 10-15 years. Drink 2025-2040.

Crafted from Syrah planted on the mid-slope of Côte Blonde, the 2022 Cote Rotie Esprit de Blonde reveals a more floral, spicier bouquet than Rose Pourpre, evoking aromas of spices, mulberries, dark berries, violets and oak. Medium to full-bodied, tense and straight, it has an assertive tannic frame, an incisive mid-palate with structured tannins and an ethereal, long finish. Matured for 18 months in barrels.
The fleshy 2022 Côte-Rôtie Esprit de Blonde emerges with dried meat, licorice, cedar, black cherry and black plum aromas. Medium-bodied, round and refreshing, the 2022 is an inviting, polished Côte-Rôtie that should provide ample pleasure right out of the gate. A refined finish wraps it up.
Cask sample. Tasted blind. Youthful and primary aromas, iron filings and ripe dark fruits. The palate is generous and has moderate acidity with relatively fine-grained tannins. Plush and silky with a smoked-meat and biltong spice coming through on the end. Full and hedonistic with a lovely undercurrent of spice beneath. (AC)
