Tasting Notes
This is Baettig's "Premier Cru" equivalent, selected from top parcels of Chardonnay, and a wine that only gets better each year. The 2022 growing season was long, allowing the team to pick late and harvest fruit of great concentration with bright acidity. On the nose, delicate floral aromatics lead on to a core of green apple, lemon rind, with a hint of spice behind. The palate shows superb balance, delicate yet concentrated, with orchard and citrus fruit, and a fantastic sense of energy throughout. The finish is taut, vibrant and long. Aged in around a third new French oak. Another superlative wine from the Baettig team.

Taut and fine on the nose with fine spices, subtle toast, and vivid citrus fruit. The palate has some rich nutty, honeyed notes, as well as lively lemon and pear fruit, just a touch of pineapple, and precise acidity. Nice finesse here, combining richness with some freshness, finishing tart.
Another fascinating wine from Francisco Baettig. This is more immediately expressive aromatically than the 2021 vintage, but no less distinctive. It also feels just a little more ‘solaire’ (sunny) as the French would say. Intriguingly, we have red berry fruit notes alongside the orange blossom and blood orange, even a hint of the very finest tomato consommé, fennel seed, lily stamens, pollen, verbena and new season hazelnuts. Incredibly intense, with that brilliantly captivating citrus purity and razor-like precision (though with more lime than lemon zest here). Such a distinct and well-defined central column of searing freshness around which the dense, rich mid-palate coalesces. Limpid, luminous and crystalline yet viscous, with a texture almost like molten glass. Brilliant
The 2022 Chardonnay Viñedo Los Primos originates from Traiguén, Araucania. Aged for 13 months in French oak barrels (37% new) it displays a green color with a yellowish sheen. Aromas of creamed corn and cedar emerge on the nose, accompanied by hazelnut, oak and ginger nuances. Dry, rich and fairly creamy on the palate, it develops a fatty and oily mouthfeel that adds depth and volume without heaviness. The 13.5% alcohol content contributes to an overwhelming mouthfeel but it's balanced by taut acidity, resulting in an elegant and long-lasting flow. Compared to other vintages, the 2022 offers a more finely tuned balance.
