The 2016 Bolgheri Rosso is fragrant and silky, both of which make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Bright red cherry and floral notes are nicely pushed forward in this very pretty, nuanced entry-level offering from Le Macchiole. The blend is 50% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah, done in a combination of cement and neutral oak.
50% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 15% Syrah, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Mid soft cherry red. Gentle but fragrant with black and dark-red fruit and a touch of zesty red cherry. Chewy but smooth, satisfying and finishes fresh even with the generosity of fruit. (JH)
