Score 89/100 · Drink 2027-2040, Neal Martin, Oct 2025

The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru sported a very heavy reduction that clouded the red fruit underneath, denying it mineralité and delineation. The palate is stocky and burly, an "ursine" Charmes-Chambertin that feels a bit beefed up in the winery. Solid with a briny finish, unlike the Rousseau it is not particularly enjoyable. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
