Cask sample. Lovely example of Corton-Charlemagne. Has the density of the grand cru and is a perfect combination of the weight of the finest sites in Puligny and Chassagne, with the lift and minerality seen in Chablis. This will age for decades and has great balance between all the components. Not exactly cheap but compared with many a Puligny premier cru represents pretty good value. (AWH)

Another strong performance from Rapet, the 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of pear and crisp orchard fruit mingled with toasted nuts, white flowers and waxy citrus rind. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with a glossy, concentrated profile, excellent underlying cut and a long, mineral finish, it's a very good wine that still flies somewhat under the radar.
About the producer
Based in Pernand-Vergelesses, the Rapet family has been involved in wine since at least the 18th century. The property owns 20 hectares of vines around and on the hill of Corton. Vincent and Sylvette are at the helm today, with their son Robin now working alongside them.
