Tasting notes
There are two Chardonnays from Kutch. Starting with the appellation 2018 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast, this spent 12 months in 25% new French oak, with the balance in used barrels. Its medium gold hue is followed by plenty of melon and pineapple fruit that turns saltier and more mineral-laced on the palate. With good concentration, medium-bodied richness and depth, and nicely integrated acidity, it's a juicy, elegant, age-worthy Chardonnay that should keep for over a decade. Jamie Kutch continues to make a savory, almost Old World style of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In general, these are structured, tannic wines, and short-term cellaring is advised.

The 2018 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast), from Bohan, is bright, punchy and full of character. Lemon confit, white flowers and light tropical notes are all so vibrant. The 2018 captures the natural energy of the year in spades. Time in the glass brings out a real sense of phenolic richness and structure. This is compelling juice.
