Tasting notes
The palate is more interesting than the nose of the 2018 Brunello Di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli. It is a bit more reserved aromatically than its sibling, it still has the same profile but is more structured and has gripping tannins as well as notes of orange oil, red cherry, ripe fruit, and tea leaf. Drink 2024-2030.

Like chiseling through an ashen stone to find a core of black raspberry preserves, balsamic spice and dried roses, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli makes itself known. It glides across the palate with a stimulating mix of mineral-tinged wild berries and savory herbs contrasted by a hint of spiced citrus. This tapers off with a lingering concentration of fruit and framing tannins, as violet inner florals slowly fade. The Montosoli is powerful and built for the cellar, yet radiant as well. Very nice.
Lustrous mid ruby with a little bit of development. Cherry and damson, but amplified and with heightened complexity compared with the classic Brunello and still compact. Hints of cigar box and a suggestion of cinnamon. Elegant, succulent and focused on the palate with gripping, crunchy tannins. A finely balanced whole and the 15% is hardly discernible. (WS)
